hylife 37 – Fall 2012

((HYLIFE OCT 2012)) NEW SONG, NEW VIDEO, NEW WEBSITE, NEW SHOW

WHAT’S GOING DOWN ALL MY GOOD PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD?!?!?!?!?!

It has been a loooong time!!!  I hope this note finds you in good spirits.

I have been busy in the studio recording, producing, as well as working on a new show, and I will be releasing a new self-produced song, Ten Thousand Words,” in 3 VERSIONS:

1st Version of the song:  “Radio Edit” is the lead single with a (((video))) featuring model/actress/friend Marilinda Rivera.  Here is a description of the song:

‘With HYIM at the helm composing, performing and producing all elements of the song, you feel the joyous and catchy melody and his signature sultry piano flowing over the head-bobbing hip-hop beats. “I have books full, of poetry for you inside my heart…ten thousands of words, millions of letters perhaps…ahhh, I’ve lost count now.” The song reflects the infinite quality of love…as if love were constantly moving through us to be shared in a stream of words.’

2nd Version “Acoustic” is a sweet intimate version of the track.

3rd Version  “Dubfire Remix” is a groove driven abstract artistic interpretation of the “Radio Edit” version.

ALL THREE SONGS WILL BE AVAILABLE THROUGH DIGITAL DOWNLOAD ONLY!!! STAY TUNED!

Please have a look at my NEW REVISED WEBSITE!!!  http://www.hyimvibe.com

Lastly, please join me on FACEBOOK & TWITTER:

 http://www.facebook.com/HYIM.MUSIC  http://twitter.com/HYIMvibe

Otherwise, things are good for me as I continue producing albums, working on my album “Love Songs in Times of War 1” for a 2013 release, practicing, meeting lots of good people, chilling in California, while I continue my peace work with the youth as well as developing curriculum for peace education.  I continue anger management with teenagers as well as designing peace workshops for community programs.  Additionally, my time is spent going into juvenile halls, performing and teaching about music–what harmony is all about.

I wish you all the best wherever you may be.

Go where the love is…

Paz, shalom, pace, a’salaam, namaste, peace.

FAMILY PRODUCTIONS LABEL

hylife 36 – Fall 2011

What is going down all my peoples around the world?!!?!??!

I hope this note finds you well and in good spirits.

It has been a long time since I sent one of these emails.  I am going to give you a little update on what I have been doing (music, healing, writing, schmoozing in Hollywood, and generally vibing), but first let me tell you about this event:

Photobucket

WED, OCTOBER 12  (8:30pm)
ROOM 5
143 North La Brea Ave–Los Angeles, CA 90036
http://www.room5lounge.com
THIS EVENT IS A DANIEL PEARL MUSIC DAYS SHOW.

I will be playing solo, singing my songs and playing a real piano>>>I will also be looping my beats LIVE, looping and playing percussion, keys, and guitar  and beatboxing (what?!?!) and doing some other circus tricks—then singing my songs, improvising, and freestyling over the fat beats.  I will be dedicating this show to PEACE and the work and healing in elevating life.

THIS EVENT IS A DANIEL PEARL MUSIC DAYS SHOW.

“Daniel Pearl recognized the ability of music to bridge differences among people. In the spirit of his love of music and commitment to dialogue, the Daniel Pearl Foundation launched the first Daniel Pearl World Music Days on October 10, 2002. Using the power of music to promote tolerance and inspire respect for differencesDaniel Pearl World Music Days has grown to include more than 6,700 performances in 111 countries. “((HE WAS THE AMERICAN JOURNALIST WHO WAS EXECUTED LIVE ON TV IN 2002))

www.danielpearlmusicdays.org/

=========================      ====================

Go where the love is.  Find that inspiration, find those people, seek out the positive vibes—cuz then it multiplies and that’s when the party really starts to bump.  Ahh Yeah!!

So this last weekend was KAHRAYZAY !!!  I was in L.A. and I performed for like 3 hours each day and DJed and performed Friday night at the same venue.  All for the VIDAevent:  gallery and artist showcase.  It was lovely~~raising funds for a girls’ school in the Masai Mara, Kenya.  I was looping up beats LIVE and getting words from people in the gallery/audience and freestyling and making songs on the spot using the collected words… performance art.  More VIDA events to come!

I have spent a lot of time in the lab.  I am working on the album:  Love Songs In Times Of War 1 and will have a new single out soon.  PROMISE!

Otherwise, I am still doing the “No Hater Boot Camp” with young people in the community;  teaching skills to cultivate peace through meditation, conflict resolution, self awareness practice, and other topics.  I am currently an intern getting my hours to get licensed as a therapist (I got my graduate degree a few years back).  I am writing the 15-class curriculum and have only the final edit to get through and it is ready to go to print.  It is called Rodef Shalom (Cultivating Peace) –The “No Hater Boot Camp” for Teens from a Jewish Perspective.  Yes, that’s a long title, but that is what we are calling it thus far.  Look out for a “Curriculum Release Party” sometime soon!!

That’s it for now my shalomey homeys.

Big love and kindness to all of you around the globe.

And a special shout to all the good folks intentionally bringing peace into the world:  take good care of yourself!

Till next time, peace, paz, pace, namaste, adios, samaya, salam, rahu, shalom, rangi marie, achukma, vrede, paix, mir, nabad, itsikya-ta, ukuthula,

What’s going down all my good folks around the world???!!!??!! !! ! !!

I hope this small note finds you in good spirits.
This year has begun for many people with a tragic happening in Haiti.
We are all touched by this event, whether we know people there or have only seen the images on TV. I have close family/friends who were in Haiti when the earthquake hit. It is overwhelming, the devastation. But we must do what we can! And people are doing so much! The international humanitarian aid has been profound. Here in the Bay Area alone, so many people are organizing events, raising money, collecting clothes, calling politicians, sending prayers. We are humans being human. This is what we do.

So…Please spread the word about this event:

I do hope to see you there my friends, or at least let your friends know.
As for me, I am busy recording the next album (an all ballads project), producing albums for other artists, spending a lot of time in Los Angeles, and cultivating peace this year–one day, one breath, at a time.
Big love to you and your family. Give thanks for the blessings of this life, for they are our gift. Thank you for reading this.

Shalom, asaalam, namaste, sayonara, au revoir, adios, ciao, paalam, bye bye, peace.

hylife vol. 33 – July 2009

What’s up all my peoples from around the world??!?!?!?!!!
I hope this summer is treating you well.

I wanted to let you know that the ELATION video is now online in both High Definition and Standard Definition. Write a comment, give a rating, and enjoy.
Here is the link again:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OrEsZvv0rs
also on Vimeo:
http://www.vimeo.com/5433595

The song ELATION (Morning Remix), the first single from the album, Sex In The Morning, is available online for download as well:

www.cdbaby.com/cd/hyim4
It will be on iTunes and other online stores in a week or so.

Here is a description of the song as well as Sex In The Morning (due out in late Summer):
—–
Elation Description:
Elation, the first single from HYIM’s album, Sex In The Morning (an exploration of the sacred erotic), brings the listener an infectious groove, superlative piano playing, and a superb vocal delivery that carries you into a euphoric dreamscape. The song personifies elation– tells a story of our human relationship with the ecstatic experience, leading the listener on a journey of crescendos and peaks of exuberance. “It’s like Coldplay on ecstasy.

Elation’s lyrics are ripe with irony “enough about me, what do you think of me?” and pure poetry “She moves in, she knows, she seduces then she goes, she’s elation. It comes again, it soars, it’s no shoulder to cry on.” You must see the gorgeous and sexy video (on HYIM’s website and other online stores to further appreciate the song. The song Elation is a flawless feather in the cap of HYIM’s catalogue of joyful, moving, meaningful, celebratory, beautiful, and captivating songs. –The boogie and the beautiful–he says.

Album Description:
Musically, Sex In The Morning is an unparalleled achievement illustrating an exceptional ability to fuse multiple and diverse popular music forms with a sensual theme, and catchy, dynamic, universal song-writing.

In reviews of HYIM’s previous two albums, comparisons have ranged from Peter Gabriel, Beck, Coldplay, The Fray, Ben Harper, Dave Matthews, Paul Simon and Norah Jones, to Sting, Manu Chao, and Bob Marley. Sex In The Morning features some of the top musicians of California, including four-time Grammy Award nominee John Santos.

Lyrically, Sex In The Morning is a profound masterpiece in its cutting edge, sensual and playful poetic exploration of the universal and personal sacred erotic. HYIM, dubbed the eclectic maestro, may just be carving out an evolutionary new pop/rock genre all his own with Sex In The Morning’s alchemy of musical styles and its amorous and evocative lyrical themes.

The album, Sex In The Morning, as a whole is upping the ante of popular music by a landslide through its lush, celebratory, sensual, and contortionistic genre-bending sonic experience that is truly unprecedented; not in musical scope nor lyrical mastery.

HYIM’s bio:
Born in San Francisco and raised in Oakland, California, HYIM is a highly praised, acclaimed singer, song-writer, producer, pianist, performer, poet, and activist. He is the next generation’s music “fusionisto.” HYIM began playing piano at the age of three, studied sitar in India, clave in Cuba, classical guitar in New Zealand, Turkish rhythms, Persian poetry, the Torah, and whom critics say has “the voice of a young Sting.” HYIM blends the rhythms of the world as chariots for his brilliant songs.

HYIM provided the score for the short film, “Two Birds,” directed by Juan Jose Rivera and winner of the San Francisco Latino Film Festival jury award for Best Emerging Latino Filmmaker 2006. Also in 2006, HYIM held a Five Day Fast and Chain Vigil for Peace and Education, calling into question the economic sense of investing in war as opposed to our children. In 2007, HYIM was invited to perform in Poland for the historic Memory and Tolerance event, and upon his return, he and his band played on the world famous Stern Grove Festival Stage in San Francisco. In 2007, HYIM continued to produce albums for other artists and write songs for his own upcoming albums in addition to touring. In 2008, HYIM scored a film for the United Nations about the World Heritage Sites and performed at a large charity event for children in Cali, Colombia. HYIM is now working on a number of production projects, film scores, and his own Collection of Ballads, Volume 1 due out in 2010, as well as performing. HYIM’s Sex In The Morning album will be released late summer 2009.
—–
So, I am in the studio finishing the tracking and mixing the rest of the album. It will be done soon and the release will be later this Summer.

I look forward to seeing you all soon at a show, or drop me a line.

Big love to my good friends and family. Keep shining.

2008 was quite an epic year.
A flash rehash of some hylights:
-I graduated and got a masters from school.
-Played a good amount of shows….
But the best one was:
I played music for 300 dancing children in Agua Blanca, Cali, Colombia. Hella live!
—That was the best beat-boxing I ever did.

Give thanks.

I did the score for a soon to be released short United Nations film.
Got Creative.
In 2008 I learned that life and the human body are frikkin’ fragile.
I also learned some new dance moves in ‘08.
!Get some moves in ’09 son!!

In Oakland CA, it’s January, and it feels like summer. True.

The world is changing.

To the many tribes and nations and families around the world.
All the babies born and brewing, all the folks who passed on.
Big love for ’08
And in ’09 get your shine on.

Be on the lookout for!>>>

“Sex in the M*rning”

Sacred Erotic
A way to begin the new day
I said new.
New breath.
New music coming.
The new album,
just for you.
…and anyone else you think would enjoy too.

From a beautiful sunny day with the blue skies and the green mountains of the East Bay.
That’s all I’m saying shalomey homeys.

hylife vol. 31 – October 2008

What’s crackin’ all my good peoples around the world? Big love to you from Oakland, California.

Give thanks for the blessings of this short life. And as we learn the lessons of capitalist/Wall Street economics, politics, and continued warfare, may we not forget the daily need to love the people we love and not waste too much time hating on the haters.

In the meantime, vote!!! Our mommas and papas worked too hard so that we had the opportunity to do so. Check out HeadCount, an organization that registers voters at shows/festivals that I am partnered with as an artist:http://www.headcount.org/

And in other news: I just finished my Masters Degree! (Saaaalud!)
Plus, the short United Nations film I have been scoring with my music just received approval of the final cut. More to come on that!

I have some dates open for the Holiday Season if you are wanting to bring my vibe to your festivities. Solo, trio, or The Fat fOakland Orchestra, we will bring the goodness (or the tasty mellow ambiance of the solo piano ‘n voice vibe—whatever you choose).

Shalom Shalom
